Instructions for every 3d paper craft template in this set.
Design 1: The Classic Faceted Dodecahedron
This is the quintessential geometric paper craft, a 12-sided polyhedron that serves as a perfect entry point into the world of complex geometry folding.
Assembly Instructions:
-
Cut: Carefully cut around the entire outer perimeter of the net (the big, intricate shape) and the separate wing section using the solid lines as a guide.
-
Score: Use a bone folder or a spent ballpoint pen to pre-crease all dashed lines. Do not miss any, as this is crucial for the final shape.
-
The Main Body: Start at the far right. Apply glue to tab ‘FOLO’ and attach to the corresponding edge. Work your way through the ‘FOLO’ and ‘FOLO’ tabs.
-
The Secondary Section: Form the secondary (left-side) half of the body using tabs ‘FOLO’ and ‘FOLO’.
-
Connecting the Halves: Use the ‘GLUE AREA’ tab (marked 11) and number 7 to join the two main sections.
-
The Closing Cap: Fold and glue the final ‘GLUE AREA’ tabs (numbers 8 and 9) to complete the main 12-sided body.
-
The Wings: Assemble the simple wing piece using the instruction box (top-left) as a guide.
-
Final Attachment: Glue the wing assembly to the top of the dodecahedron body using the small tabs provided.
Design 2: The Stylized Gryphon
This design moves from pure geometry to mythology, transforming the folding pattern into a powerful gryphon, complete with an eagle head, a lion body, and complex, articulated-look wings.
Assembly Instructions:
-
Cut & Score: Precise cutting on solid lines and deep scoring on all dashed lines is essential, especially for the intricate wing and head sections.
-
The Head: Begin with the head (far right, marked ‘FOLO’). Fold the facial structure. The sequence numbers (like 1, 2, 3) are key to finding adjacent faces.
-
The Body: Build the chest and upper back. Note the tabs marked ‘GLUE AREA’ near number 10 and 11 to form the main torso.
-
Connecting the Limbs: The limbs (e.g., number 14) have specific ‘FOLO’ tabs that are crucial for posing. Follow the sequence.
-
The Primary Wings: Assemble the two larger wing panels. Notice the detailed, feather-like score lines. Be gentle to prevent tearing.
-
The Feather Tail: The elaborate tail (numbers 18, 9, 15) is built separately and then attached to the rear.
-
The Final Join: Connect the head/chest assembly to the main body, ensuring all numbers align.
-
Wing Attachment: Glue the main wing assembly onto the back, matching the small connection points. The small extra wing pieces go on afterward.
Design 3: The Intricate Geometric Bird
This pattern is a beautiful exploration of animal form through geometric facets. It transforms the dodecahedron concept into a graceful, multi-winged, feathered creature with incredible depth.
Assembly Instructions:
-
Preparation: This is a delicate build. Clean cuts and careful pre-scoring are absolute musts.
-
The Complex Right Wing: Start with the complex right-wing structure. This section (tab 1, ‘FOLO’) requires careful folding. Follow the sequential numbers (1, 2, 3…) closely.
-
The Simple Wing: Form the left wing and attach its secondary parts.
-
The Faceted Tail: Build the multi-layered tail. This will connect to the main body at a later stage.
-
The Body Core: Form the core body structure (near numbers 6 and 7). This will be the main point of attachment.
-
Connection Point: Use tab 11 and number 7 to join the two major wing/body sections.
-
Tail Attachment: Glue the completed tail assembly to the lower rear part of the body core.
-
Final Steps: Build and attach the complex wing attachments to the main wing surfaces, ensuring proper alignment with the facets.
Design 4: The Minimal Dodecahedron
This design represents the ultimate simplification, distilling the pattern down to its essential faces for a clean, minimalist build that emphasizes pure form. It is the “original” concept.
Assembly Instructions:
-
The Golden Rule: The entire net (the big, singular piece) must be cut out flawlessly along the solid lines.
-
Score and Pre-fold: Pre-creasing is everything here. Score every single dashed line before attempting any assembly.
-
Find the First Connections: Start on the right side. Identify tab 1 and its neighboring faces. Glue the ‘GLUE AREA’ tabs in numerical sequence.
-
Sequential Build: Continue working through the numbered faces (1, 2, 3…) on the right half, gluing the tabs as you go. This will form one full half of the dodecahedron.
-
Build the Second Half: Focus on the left side of the net (numbers 4, 5, 6…). Build this half in sequence.
-
The Final Closing: This is the most difficult step. Slowly close the two halves, carefully gluing the last ‘GLUE AREA’ tabs (marked 8, 9, 10). Work slowly to keep the form symmetrical.
